The french designer has revealed that she's been suffering from Parkinson disease for over 15 years. She decided to make it public in her late autobiography since she can't hide her symptoms anymore.
Rykiel refers to it as 'P de P', or 'Putain de Parkinson' which translates to 'bitch of Parkinson's; she's been using a cane for several years, yet she didn't want to be photographed with it.
An excerpt of her book, titled "N'oubliez Pas Que Je Joue" (Don’t Forget It’s A Game), reads: 'I don’t want to show my pain. I resisted, I hesitated, I tried to be invisible, to pretend that nothing was wrong. It's impossible, it's not like me.'
Sonia Rykiel was famous during the sixties and she handed her position to her daughter Nathalie in 1995 (now she's vice-chairman of the board) and 80% of her label was sold to Fung Brands.
Rykiel still attends to the fashion shows.
Wow! I didn't see that one coming but sure she's been a fighter and being on the spotlight for over 5 decades, we have to be really proud of her.. don't ya??

La diseñadora francesa ha revelado que ha estado sufriendo del mal de Parkinson por casi 15 años. Ella decidió hacer pública esta confesión en su autobiografía ya que no puede esconder los síntomas.

Rykiel se refiere a la enfermedad como 'P de P', o mas bien como 'Putain de Parkinson' que se traduce a 'Parkinson de mier..'; ella ha estado usando un bastón por varios años pero jamas quiso que la fotografiaran con él.

Un extracto de su libro, titulado "N'Oubliez Pas Que Je Joue" (No Olvides Que Es Un Juego), dice: 'No quería mostrar mi dolor. Yo resistí, yo dudé, yo traté de ser invisible, de pretender que no pasaba nada. Es imposible, no es como yo.'

Sonia Rykiel fue famosa durante los sesenta y cedió el puesto a su hija Nathalie en 1995 (ahora es vicepresidenta de la junta) y el 80% de su marca fue vendida a Fung Brands.

Rykiel todavía va a los desfiles de la marca.
